We’re Growing! Sudsies Expands into Broward and Palm Beach
Sudsies has been providing luxury dry cleaning and exceptional service for the residents of Miami, Miami Beach and throughout Miami Dade County for 20 years. The company has grown significantly since opening its original boutique on 67th Street and Collins Avenue. The business now includes self-standing boutiques, a fleet of mobile boutiques, and a reputation for being South Florida’s eco-friendliest luxury dry cleaner. Over the years, we noticed many of our loyal customers were requesting pick-up and delivery from as far north as Boca Raton in Palm Beach County. In an effort to continue to provide the ultimate in convenience and service, Sudsies recently opened a new stand-alone boutique on Las Olas in Ft. Lauderdale. Like all our boutiques, our Ft. Lauderdale location offers a full range of services, including eco-friendly dry cleaning, couture garment cleaning, laundry services, restoration, and alterations. And, of course, the location offers the ultimate in convenience. The Ft. Lauderdale boutique is an ideal location for Broward and Palm Beach residents. Through our website and mobile app, customers can request to have their clothes picked up and delivered wherever they may be. Las Olas? No Problem. Rio Vista? You got it. Boca Marina Yacht Club? Our pleasure. Don’t trust your clothes to just anybody! Contact us online or call us at 305.864.3279 to speak with a garment specialist.
NEW YEAR, MORE FRESH POSSIBILITIES
It’s a New Year, new decade, and new opportunity for Sudsies to best serve as South Florida’s favorite luxury dry cleaner. But first, with us being the sentimental kind and all, we wanted to briefly reflect on just how far we’ve come.
Sudsies Spotlights Expert Tailor Yara Pena
If you ever walk by the Sudsies Design District boutique, chances are you’ll receive a wave and a huge smile from Yara Pena through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Yara is the store’s tailoring expert, but she’s also earned the title of “Window Queen” for the way she engages outdoor passersby. She just celebrated her one-year anniversary with the company, uniting clients and their garments in the perfect fit. Yara is both a tailor and a designer. She studied fashion in Puerto Rico and attended The Altos De Chavon School of Design in the Dominican Republic before settling in Miami. These experiences include working directly under established fashion designers, among them Puerto Rico’s Pipo Pere, who she recalls taught her some of the most valuable tricks of the trade for garment construction. “You have to really know what you are doing, but you also have to really like it,” says Yara of tailoring. “Your passion affects the quality of your work.” Yara’s talent is evident. Yet the 28-year-old notes that some clients are initially hesitant about whether her youth matches her skill. Yara happily takes on the opportunity to turn around those perceptions, tackling even the most challenging garment requests with refinement. “I love seeing client’s reactions when they try on the final garment. A customized fit just elevates their love for the item all the more.” “The range of tailoring tasks varies, but when asked, Yara notes a special affinity for evening wear, from bridal gowns to cocktail dresses, and all things beaded and embellished. She continues to wow her clients with impeccable techniques, but also her positive outlook. “Everyone has bad days now and then, but when I get in front of that Sudsies window, I’m always smiling,” she says. How’s that for a compelling storefront? In need of clothing alterations, damage repairs, or heirloom revivals? Meet with Yara at our 6100 Biscayne Boulevard boutique or one of our other expert tailors at our Miami Beach and North Miami Beach locations. More information about our tailoring department and all other services can be found at www.sudsies.com or by dialing 305.864.3279.
Sudsies Seasonal Tip
The South Florida winter is here… and we’re ready for some good leather! While leather can always be counted on to make a great style statement, a little extra care should be taken to ensure it maintains its look and form. The biggest culprit against this supple staple? Water. Water damage can stain or discolor the surface, as well as potentially warp the leather’s structure. The Cleaning Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute advises treating your pieces before wear to better withstand rain and other soggy scenarios, citing Kiwi’s Protect All as their product recommendation. This protection should be applied every three months for maximum guard. The Institute goes on to suggest that cleaning of leather items, especially larger, more substantial pieces, be left to a professional. We have a recommendation on that end too… Yours truly! Sudsies specializes in the care of luxe, sensitive and otherwise temperamental materials, including leather. We hand-treat with eco-friendly solvents to most effectively remove stains and clean while maintaining the integrity of the fabric.
