This month, we get to hear directly from the Sudsies Fearless Leader himself about how he managed to build a company where EVERYONE smiles… At Sudsies, one of the things I’m most proud of is that we are known as the go-to luxury dry cleaner, but more importantly, we’re known for our warmth in customer service. The reason why I love going to work each day is simple – we’re all happy. It’s contagious.
While our culture promotes this kind of environment, it really stems from who we all are innately. When we hire new team members, we’re not looking for slick credentials or vast expertise. Instead, we assess a candidate’s attitude, for with a great attitude, anything can be learned and accomplished through training, mentoring, and continuing education programs. Even in challenging situations, it’s a great attitude that allows you to problem solve while maintaining that connection with a customer. It’s what propels us beyond merely meeting a job description to excelling in a career. Here are some tips on how to spot those with a good attitude: 1. Smile – Sure, it’s serious business growing a company, but that doesn’t mean we have to be so serious while we’re at it. Great attitudes are expressed through smiles even while talking. Genuine ones involve teeth and include a slight raise in the eyes and eyebrows. Conducting a phone interview? I swear you can hear someone smile even through a telephone line. 2. Energy – This can be both seen and felt. A good energy is active, simultaneously manages to make you feel at ease. 3. Passion – Observe how your candidates talk about their experiences. Do they go above and beyond to describe and seem excited when sharing a story? 4. Posture/Body Language – Those who walk and sit up straight and with open arm gestures indicate that they are ready to face anything that comes their way. Happy team building! At your service, Jason Loeb President, Sudsies Dry Cleaner & Laundry
